1) Thank you to everyone that contributed to our NYS CSJ Super Bowl Pool!  Every box has been sold! The fundraising from this event will help to defray the cost of printing our positive image materials including bookmarks, brochures, etc.. that are used in library displays, local lodge events, and new member packets.  The Super Bowl will be on Sunday Feb 8th.  Winners will be contacted by Anthony Rotoli.  The prizes are:

1st Qtr: $200

Half Time: $350

3rd Qtr: $200

Final score: $500

Good Luck!

2) On December 31, 2025 President Donald Trump delivered remarks at the kickoff event for the “America 250” celebration on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Trump’s opening remarks honored Christopher Columbus’s discovery of the New World as a foundational moment in America’s story. The projections on the Washington Monument (described as the “world’s tallest birthday candle”) explicitly included narration and visuals of Columbus’s voyage.

From 1492-1776-2026, God Bless America and the Italians who helped build it!

3) The National Park Service / National Mall and Memorial Parks (NPS/NAMA) in Washington D.C. was awarded nearly $12 million in funding from the U.S. Department of the Interior to complete the restoration of the historic fountains at Columbus Circle in Washington, D.C. The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is proud to support efforts that preserve and enhance the legacy of Christopher Columbus and the enduring contributions of Italian and Italian Americans to our nation’s history and public spaces. This investment represents a meaningful step forward in honoring that legacy for future generations.

4) The Bills Mafia (a loyal and passionate fanbase of the Buffalo Bills NFL team) not only sports an unflattering name glorifying organized crime, but has also shown support for replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day.  OSDIA National Vice President, Mark DeNunzio, recently wrote a letter to the head of an Italian group in Buffalo asking why they are not acting to fight this ant-Italian bigotry happening in their own backyard.
