"WE ARE CELEBRATING 50 YEARS"
President's Message

Welcome to November! As we begin a new month, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to five new mem bers of our family: Sister Vita Suzette Filipski, Sister Margaret Montuori, and Sister Carmela Staffa, Brother Luigi DiStaso and Brother James Barcellino. We are so glad to have you aboard and look forward to our journey ahead together! I would also like to welcome our new Lodge Deputy Joseph Armocida the current President of the America Lodge 2245 in Franklin Square to our Per Sempre family. A Big Per Sempre Lodge congratulations to Sister Eleanor Jobbagy on her appointment as New York State Chair of the Commission for Social Justice! A well-deserved position. The Long Island Columbus Day Parade in Deer Park, Long Island was an exciting and memorable event, especially as it marked the first parade held in this new location. There was an impressive turnout, not only from the many lodges that participated, but also from the enthusiastic crowds lining the streets along the 4-mile parade route. It was a wonderful celebration of Italian American pride and community spirit!
On October 18th, the Per Sempre Lodge generously donated new, unused Halloween costumes to the Lynbrook Library as part of an ongoing outreach initiative. This program reflects our lodge's commitment to giving back to the community—especially to the children of the Village of Lynbrook. By providing these costumes, we aim to support families who may find it difficult to afford today’s costly Halloween attire. Our hope is that every child has the opportunity to celebrate the holiday, enjoy the magic of dressing up, and simply have fun being a kid. At the October Lynbrook Village Board Meeting on October 20th, held at Village Hall, Mayor Alan Beach and the Village Board presented the Per Sempre Lodge with a Citation in honor of Italian Heritage Month. This recognition highlights the many contributions of Italian Americans to the Lynbrook community and acknowledges the meaningful work the Per Sempre Lodge continues to do in support of our local residents. Our Italian Heritage Meeting was truly memorable, highlighted by the initiation of our newest members. The evening was both moving and inspiring. It was like stepping into the shoes of those who first arrived in America with hope, uncertainty, and determination. We were especially honored to hear a touching reflection from our Vice Presidents, Brothers Gerardo and Andy, who shared their personal experiences of coming to America as children—unable to speak the language and knowing no one. Their stories remind ed us of all the courage, sacrifice, and resilience that define our heritage. To honor that legacy, we invited all members who were born in Italy to stand and be recognized. It was a powerful moment that reminded us of the importance of preserving and celebrating our shared history. Thank you, brother Joseph Rondinelli who is running a share the wealth board that will be drawn on October 31st. The board is sold out, and we thank everyone who participated. Our November meeting will be a fun and festive craft night! The meeting will take place on November 18th and instead of our usual format, you’ll have the chance to create your own handmade Christmas ornaments - just in time for the holiday season. We thank sister Patrice Brown for chairing this event. We’re also pleased to welcome Trust Attorney Giovanni Silvagni, who will be joining us as a guest speaker to share helpful information about trusts and estate planning. There is a $10 fee for the evening, and RSVP is required—please mail in your check, made out to Per Sempre Lodge, please see the attached flyer for details. As always, we’ll have dessert and coffee to enjoy. In the spirit of giving, we’ll also be collecting nonperishable food items, supermarket gift cards, small clothing, and personal care products to help those in need during the holidays. We hope you’ll join us for this special evening of creativity, community, and giving! Important Date Change: December Members-Only Christmas Party Meeting Please note that our Members-Only Meeting will be held on Monday, December 2nd, which is a change from our usual meeting night. This special evening will be a social gathering only—no official business will be conducted. It is a free event for all members, but RSVP is required. Don’t forget to bring an unwrapped toy for our annual holiday donation to Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center. Your generosity helps brighten the season for children in need. We look forward to celebrating the season together! Loreta and I would like to wish everyone a joyous and healthy Thanksgiving Day! We’ll be celebrating the holiday with the traditional turkey and all the trimmings. Our feast will start with a very Italian-style large antipasto table; it would make even the best Italian Salumeria cringe! And to end the night, we’ll be indulging in more desserts and espresso than you’d find on 18th Avenue in Brooklyn.
Wishing you all again a wonderful and festive Thanksgiving!

Robert
